BackThe Self

The Practice of Wisdom
The book presents wisdom as a practice instead of a possession. It brings together insights from religious, philosophical, and literary traditions to show that in moments of uncertainty, what sustains us are habits of perception shaped over time through care, ritual, storytelling, and attention. For SPS, it becomes a study of perception and how we are taught to understand suffering, beauty, and meaning.
Structured as five quests, and featuring an interview with the historian of religions Wendy Doniger.
Four Harvard professors in conversation: Davíd Carrasco (historian of religions), Arthur Kleinman (psychiatrist and medical anthropologist), Stephanie Paulsell (Harvard Divinity School), and Michael Puett (Chinese history and anthropology), the guest of Conversations ep. 1.
